Disintegration studio V1 Interactive is shutting down

The firm is being closed less than a year after its debut game rolled out.

The developer of sci-fi shooter Disintegration V1 Interactive is closing down.

The studio revealed the news in a post on Twitter, in which it said that it was grateful for the “talented people” who work and have worked at the firm. V1 Interactive was founded back in 2015 by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo franchise at Bungie.

“We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing,” the studio wrote on Twitter.

“We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last 5 years wonderful.

“And a heartfelt thanks to the amazing community that supported us.”

In a post on Twitter, Lehto said that management had been open about the fact things weren’t going well for the developer for some time in order to give staff time to find new roles.

“At V1, our priority has been to the wellbeing of our employees,” Lehto said.

“We’ve been transparent with them about the state of things for months and are making this decision now so they still have ample time to search for new jobs while being supported by our studio.”

Disintegration was revealed in July 2019. Later that year, VG247’s Alex Donaldson sat down with Lehto to find out how the game was created.

The title launched in June 2020. In our review, we said: “Disintegration is a warts-and-all exercise in genre nostalgia.” The game was released with a multiplayer component but this was removed in November after failing to gain a “significant audience”.
